Greetings from the East

Well, spring is beginning to show itself.  That is good, as I believe everyone is quite ready for winter to be finally over.

Looking ahead to May, we will be having our picnic.  Originally scheduled for April 10th, we postponed it in light of the City of Ames potentially not having the water turned on at the park.  In place of that event, we had a family night at the lodge on April 10th and it was an enjoyable time for everyone.  A number of families were in attendance, and thanks to Bro. Darrell Staley, the burgers were cooked just right!  And, so, we hope that the picnic in May will have a great attendance as well.  It's a family event, so plan on attending with your wife and kids.  The Lodge will provide the burgers, and all we ask is everyone else bring an item to share.  Also, bring a prospective member along as well.  Bro. Doug Petty brought a prospective member with him to the Family Night on April 10th and it appeared our guest had a great time as well!

As many of you may know, the growth of masonry in Iowa has been phenomenal over the past few years, however, in some areas we have not had the best rate of retention.  As a result, the Grand Master has announced that the Grand Lodge will be holding a number of Membership Retention Forums beginning in April and continuing throughout the month of May.  Each lodge is expected to be represented, and while the principle officers of the lodge will be in attendance, I would encourage as many as possible of our brothers to attend one of these forums as I believe we will all gain some valuable insight as we continue to grow our fraternity.

Looking forward to warmer weatherŠ

Fraternally,

Jeremy Davis, WM
